Character: Johnny
Arrival at the Faculty - There are those who arrive at the Faculty without knowing anything about nothing here. In fact, no one knows anything about nothing when he arrives. Have you seen the movie "Clerks"? Well, think about how the enrollment interns feel when you arrive fresh new. Then, multiply it by twenty-two and you will get what they feel with the people who are "supposed" to know what is going on...
Leaving Home - It is often that, when leaving your father in charge of the PC, you end with all your porn uncovered, but also new appeared porn... In case of mindfully hiding such porn, in our return we will find the system broken and the machine in ashes, despite using Unix.
Meeting (Part 1) - Nowadays, it is usual to find people from UB (Universitat de Barcelona) in the bar in Campus Nord, more than people from FIB or Telecos. And, all in all, it is good, since we generate "Inner Product" with money from outside. This is how England became rich in the eighteenth century, exporting product to France and the Americas.
Encounters (Part 2) - "Pfff! Everyone knows that the future is not written, and it can be changed. Build a future for us that is yours."
-
"Where are you going, Doc? To the future?"
-
"The future...? No, I've been there already."
There's a Girl in My Lab (Part 1) - This reminded me of a Guille's sketch, in which it was said that while one's partner never goes to the Lab because he's sick, any girl's partner always goes for the same reason as the previous one.
There's a Girl in My Lab (Part 2) - Labs are a great place to make friends. If you have a girl as a lab partner (while being a boy) or vice versa, and she uses the British imperial system of measurement, don't let her change you. Always respect the International System!
The IC Professor - I forgot to put a comment here... Nye!
Coding P1 - Long, long time ago, in a Faculty far, far away, instead of typing code in P1 we typed code in IP. With the change of curriculum, P1 and P2 were created, just that P2 was patented by Richard Nixon, and we had to rename it as PrED. Other changes were done, but that's another story.
Tarantino Alike - I don't know if it's still there, but long time ago the Campus Nord infirmary was run by the live version of Dr. Nick Riviera. Once I went to have my ankle checked after a fall, and he prescribed me a bandage and five days of "not walking much". Hours later, I left Hospital Clínic in a plaster cast and crutches for a month.
Amazing Stories - Very strange things happen in the toilets of the A6 Building. I once had an Extraterrestrial contact. While he was in front of the mirror, a strange creature showed its head from behind the door, and immediately hid again...
A Good Evening - Sometimes things happen in everyday life that surpass any imagined fantasy. When this happens, take the opportunity, and don't fool around like those who immediately log into fotolog or messenger to explain everything to everyone, instead of living the moment. Don't be such losers.
Teleco-Date - People go to TelecoFarra for two things: To drink all the alcohol surplus from TelecoGresca, or to pick up some girl from Pharmacy/Physics/Biology/Medicine/... Under no circumstances should you proceed to do both at the same time: The result can cause death, or make a fool out of you. Another thing that can happen is that you don't get anything at all, and you become something worse: a sad "calimotxero", half drunk, trying unsuccessfully to score high, and with people like Will or Eki following you to undermine all efforts in case you get the attention of a girl.
Geeks In Love - Nothing to do with the previous strip about the Internet. Simply remember that using Geek resources for flirting can easily backfire. I know a guy who tried, and today he is one of the saddest men in Computer Science. But... he still got a girl, who turned out to be much more geeky than him. So, he had a happy ending? We wish him all the luck in the world.
At You Own Risk - Scenes like this are a trope in cinema, and the story always goes the same way: friend warns protagonist, protagonist does not take that seriously, in the end protagonist discovers the love of his life, and coincides with what the friend had told him.
Note 1: As Will says He who warns is not a traitor, he is a warner
Note 2: Now that I know the future, I can change it! Mwahahahahaha!
Let's Get A Party Going - A long time ago, about 4 years or so, people who studied in this degree didn't have Internet at home (True! I was there!). At that time, at the "PCeras" of the A5 building, we had computer terminals called SunRay where you could connect to the Internet, be able to see your next class, see the spontaneous warnings of the Racó (news board), and see the grades at the time of their publication. Crowds of people made to the terminal to inquirie things at rush hour. It was worthy of admiration how an entire ILO course (Logics 101) concentrated in that corridor, while the people in the terminals read aloud the grades, asking for the ID number beforehand, of course. It was in front of the terminal monitors where, in the middle and end of the semester, victories and defeats were celebrated.
Party Hard - The problem with publishing grades was that grades were published at 11:55 p.m., while exam revision took place the next day at eight in the morning. If you didn't have Internet at home you were doomed. The Racó (news board) allowed many teachers to use this to prevent people from going to exam revision. When grades were posted on some physical bulletin boards, in a cork placed under the canteen, it was still possible to ambush the teacher at the time of grades publication (I also saw it!)
Satisfaction - A common thing is to find couples getting some fresh air in the green we have at Campus Nord. However, this space is open to the entire neighborhood, both in access and vision, and that prevents 'snu-snu' stuff as usual activity. For that, there is a space behind the Nexus building, inbetween it and a concrete wall. You can't see what's going on there unless you go to pick your motorcycle from the parking lot, or if you work inside the building, whose walls are tinted from the outside in (only).
Nothing... - Not long ago, but not so much, just about three years, everyone was silent in Revistes' office. Suddenly, Romà (you know, from "Distorsió"), came in shouting "I know nothing! I know nothing!", to which Kescuin (also from Distorsió) joined in shouting "I know nothing!". In the end, no one went to that exam.
Alert: Asking somebody about what exactly happened can lead to the anecdote of that photo from Eki (you know, from "Distorsió") and the sudden appearance of m0d (already famous, you know, from "l'Oasi").
Osu! Tatake! Ouendan! - A long time ago, approximately 9999 years, I went to Japan, that's kinda far away, and bought the two Ouendan games for DS (Ouendan is like the original Elite Beat Agents from Japan). Then, we all proposed to dress up as Ouendan characters, and go around the Faculty lecture halls encouraging people, especially at exam time, with music and choreography. In the end nothing was done, because people are quitters.
Example Exercises - Example exercises have a fundamental problem, and that is that they are always wrong. You can try to make the exercises like shown in class, without adding up in the end. And the worst thing is that you will have it correct, but you will never know. Normally, example exercises are copied from the blackboard, but some parts of it are taken as obvious by the teacher, or you have not been able to copy them completely, or you have copied them but without having any idea what the teacher has doing at a given point, or you have copied them too quickly and you do not understand what you have written down.
Tip of the day: Never rely on an example exercise. Furthermore, if you know people who distribute or create example exercises, don't hesitate to report them to the police. If you find yourself in a situation where you rely on example exercises, don't hesitate to call Emergencies.
Bed Tales - Storing Algebra notes in a porn magazine is NOT an incentive to study. Given the natural revulsion that things have for Algebra, hiding notes anywhere would produce the opposite effect, and by hiding Algebra notes in erotic magazines and websites one could put an end to international wankerism. From here, a greeting to all those who have tried this technique. However, if one suffers from Algebraphilia, this situation loses its original meaning. A certain person around here (who is not me), loved Algebra so much that he repeated it throughout its selective phase (first year). Later, this person would become the reincarnation of the Eternal Repeater, of whom I will tell you about just another day.
Visita (Part 1) - Does anyone experienced similar things like this? Or whatever close? Tell us about your case here!
Visita (Part 2) - Here is a second part to such "usual" fact, where the parents are "good sports". Note that sometimes such comprehension is appreciated.
Forgetting - When in an exam, it is essential to isolate from everything happening around you, as concentration must be exclusive towards the exam. That means sitting in a place without girls showing cleavage, placing oneself away from windows (especially in Campus construction season), staying away from that guy who stinks (every class has one, always. In mine, the guy reeked of garlic, to be specific). Once you have found the perfect place, forget for a moment about the hot girl who is waiting for you at home. Yes, I'm referring to that one you seek on channel /s/ in 4chan.
Exams (Level 1) - I remember about a person who went through life as like in a video game. Without meaning it. Certain local philosopher once told me: While people performed tasks or chores, this person "completed stages". It was not about passing an exam, but about "completing the exam stage". Or instead of fixing a PC, it was about "completing the Fix the PC stage".
Remember that in an exam you have to forget about everything around you and not let anything distract you. With the exception of when you copy from a partner, which is not recommended since everybody knows that such partner is a moron and has less idea than you about everything.
Outside - I once met a guy who had an allergy to that time after the exam where you wait outside. That is, he did not like to compare answers with the excuse of "I'm sure everything went wrong" (and then he passed, especially if those were tests about memorizing things). You will recognize these kind of people because they are nervously hanging around among others during the 5 minutes after the exam, wandering and changing course in a neurotic way every time they approach someone who comments on one of the answers. Catch them by surprise by revealing the results quickly without them having time to get away from you!
Outside (Part 2) - (Another post without a text?! Nooooo!)
System Operator - At the A5's "PCeras" (computer classrooms) you can find a being known as "The System Operator". He will give you advice about equipment, assignment materials, and life in general. Specifically, there is one who knows the answer to the big question of life (and it's not 42). Only he'll reveal it to you if you find out who he is among all the LCFIB crew, and you buy him a beer.
TelecoFarra - I think I mentioned this on previous occasions, the TelecoFarra is that party (small party) in which the Telecos exhaust the surplus alcohol stock from the TelecoGresca (big party). It is usually in autumn, and it has some other faculty or school invited, usually a mostly girl's one. And drinks are for free. The important thing to know is that the only way to get a drink "frequently" is to become a friend of someone at the bar. As an extra detail, it is usually done at the Velòdrom d'Horta.
Farra Girls - Since the party is usually done along with another faculty like Pharmacy, Business, etc... it is usually full of girls (or so it is indented). The problem is when all the freaks of Campus Nord and other boys' faculties know this, getting all the tickets, leaving almost none for the girls. Of course, in the last one everything was filled with "teenies", and who knows if they were actually old enough to be in college.
Alone - Several people have as objective at TelecoFarra to go back home accompanied. Usual result: Total failure. Being such a mystical event, each one ends the night in a way that they would never have expected. I, for example, ended in the previous one with Ziritrión in a maternity hospital. Things like that happen.
Not Alone - As said before, the TelecoFarra always ends in some totally unexpected way. Sometimes accompanied, sometimes alone, sometimes in a hospital while Ziritrión exercises in front of a car park (¿?), and sometimes with a broken hand. This was the case of the System Operator, Mr. Blonde, who after the TelecoFarra woke up at home with a broken hand.
The Day After - This is the day when you explain what happened to you during the party, as well as afterwards. It may happen that the return home is more interesting than the party itself. Of course, there are hard to believe things, like your friend being mistaken by a junkie on the night bus back home, and kicked out halfway by the driver. This happened to a friend the other day, on the way back home from a party. Poor guy... (Note: Nobody was drugged, we only had a mishap with the Bicing (public city bike) on the way, and we ended up not very presentable, before him jumping on the bus.)
"Off Topic": I have been told that TelecoFarra is on October 24th, so it is better to get ready.
Impro-Strip - Well, finally people collaborated and provided details for the improvised Strip. Thus, this fiftieth strip of "Johny, Roy and Steffy" is inaugurated. As you can see, in the end I put up a medley of different proposals, because I thought they were all great, and because that way we have a nonsensical strip (And what memories it brings me of the famous saga "When the Absurdo attaks", of two volumes). So, now, we go for the hundredth strip! (Keep commenting, you rascals!!!)
L'Oasi - "L'Oasi" is the student magazine of the Faculty of Informatics of Barcelona. The magazine is made by the students (and professors) of the FIB, and tends to be satirical and humorous. It is normal to find characters such as Glyn Morrill, Jordi Petit or Dean Sancho doing things related to the current affairs at the Faculty. The magazine costs one euro, but it costs us a euro and a half to produce, so we always have to end up robbing a bank or ask for subsidies at UPC.
Judge (Part 1) - "El Jutge" is the application used to correct (and kick out) the students and their P1 assignments. In the past, P1 (called IP) consisted of a few very simple practices in order to evaluate what students had learned during theory class. Only now, the LSI Dept. Super Geek Squad has taken over P1, and now, to pass it one must become a demi-god at the very least.
Judge (Part 2) - It was actually nice to stay late doing the assignment in the Faculty. When not IP (P1) it was EDA (PRAP+ADA)... in these SUN-Ray classrooms from The Past, with these system operators who had already assumed that they had to be on call every week. Now, everything can be done at home, and you only have to go to the "PCeras" one day to check the assignment works on the computers there.
Great romances arose in the time of the SUN-Ray!

Love Code - It's been 7 and a half years since I started with the strip, and finally I've arrived at strip #300, honoring the concept of "web-comic time" where in history 2 years have passed and no more.
I take this opportunity to thank everyone who has visited the page and has had the patience to read the story from the beginning (those strips with a lot of preschool scribbles), those spam bots that increase the number of visits to Google Analytics (one day I'll invite them home for a snack, all of them), and all those who follow this in silence from RSS or directly to the page.
And to think that what started as a hobby in the magazine l'Oasi, and that has become something more, beyond the career and doctorate. Sometimes I think that no one notices this anymore, in a series of strips that, as Ziritrion once said, had become cheesy, and because I'm not among the cool people of the web-comic world, it probably doesn't amount to anything more than a hobby. But then I remember that one or two people look at it from time to time, from different parts of the world, from here and there, and I think "well, come on, let's draw something else, don't let them think that I'm not around anymore". I care of you too, damn it!
So, for those who would like it, I'm considering collecting all the strips, and selling/giving them away by the will and tip of the staff! Don't worry, you won't have to pay such "zero euros" in front of me, but you can do it without me looking directly at you.
Also, for Ziri-senpai to notice me again, for the next few strips I'll change the dynamics of the story a little bit, trying to make everything entertaining again. Let's see if people dare again to tell me that "hey, weren't you that one of the FIB guys?". Comments are accepted, of course. Don't hesitate, even if it's to give me a good fight! Use pseudonyms if you fear others pointing at you saying "phew, a furry!". I won't judge you for that.
To Steffy's fans, here and there, and wherever they are,
A reveure!
J.L.B.
~Extra ball: Did I already talked to you about "Sense Tomàquet!" that comic I'm publishing at Tumblr at the same time? Yeah...? Ok then... Nothing else, right? Good afternoon, and see you next time.~
Awake and Recreated – I’m retaking the drawing habits, as now I have time again! Starting with my main web-comic at MaiusCentral (in Spanish but that I decided to translate to English as you see above), and with some other comics and short stories in mind. Some of those stories will be “geeky”, you are warned!
I kind of re-planned the JRS web-comic, as it became extremely “local” and with too many “private references” from the Faculty of Informatics of Barcelona (FIB). I didn’t reboot it, but I’ll try to let possible new readers to enter into the story from here, and think of stories as I was an “outsider” but keeping the essence of the FIB.
And I’ll restart with a tribute to the 90′s…
Steffy Bunny Can’t Lose - Lately I've been revisiting all the TV shows that I missed since the 90's, plus all my favorite shows from then.
If the decade of the 80s has been vindicated so far, the decade of the 90s should already be vindicated. Of course the 80s were amazing, and the 90s were like a kind of decadence... but it was our decadence! And it wasn't too bad either: we had SEGA Master System II and MegaDrives, "tazos" of Matutano, LaserDiscs and MiniDiscs, Windows 3.10, etc...
Award for Steffy – Here again, ready to keep drawing things! For over a month now I've been extremely busy with moving, work projects (which gives me money), and finding some stability in life. After an inspiring talk with Maese Koopa (the one who draws in HTZ comics), I'm going to start drawing again, if it can be weekly, and adding things to Tumblr so as not to leave it abandoned.
I want to take advantage of this story arc to test different panel layouts and test whether it is possible to "animate" vignettes in a "static" way (oxymoron and sleight of hand, all in one). Let's see what comes out of this!
Operation Best-Bunny – How's it going, FIBers and Outliers? Have you all received your dose of summer caloret? Campus Coordinator informs us that this August they leave us without air conditioning (and without running water). That we have to save, and that. So we have "forced vacations" in August, and whoever wants to work should do it from home. I will be traveling the world on a work trip, on a tour of Oceania. If any of you are also down-under, tell me something!
The Incredible Miss Bunny (who does everything at FIB) - How are those holidays (those of you who are studying) going? I'm already preparing mine, and I'm also preparing the next JRS story arcs (apart from this one). Taking advantage of the vacation weeks, I'm going to try to advance strips to be able to offer a greater frequency, at least until Christmas.
Award Ceremony - Back again from vacation, and here with the last translated comic from JRS. Officially, the name of the Rat Girl will be Linda Ratowsky (Some day I will tell you the adventures of the Rat Girl from the FIB).
This comic goes to that man on Barcelona in charge to announce the world about “The Simpsons: Marge vs. the Monorail” being aired on TV.
Bunnies wanna have shelter - Here in Catalonia we don’t have “Halloween”, but we have also pagan traditions, like the “Chestnut Party” (yes, that’s a real celebration). On the 31st of October we eat chestnuts, sweet potatoes, and sweets made of almond, sugar and potato we like to call “panellets”. This page has been made while eating all of that.
Valuable Bunny – Finally arrived the day when half of my Computer Sciences students (specifically those who submitted their assignments) are women! I discard all those who didn’t, because they are dead to me! …Actually not, just dramatizing. It goes well for my quick analysis, where we achieved gender parity in CS!
I just wanted to share that fact with you. That’s all! 😉
Bunnynism for Workgroups - This last month I had a huge amount of work at the lab, closing all the experiments before winter holidays, so I couldn’t draw everything I wanted to. I hope I can advance some stuff during these days (while preparing the lessons for next semester, also designing experiments for an incoming conference, … Uf!). So meanwhile, happy holidays everybody!
Keep Bunnying! – Dang it! I wanted to update two weeks ago, but suddenly “Undertale” and its lore, artwork, fan-art, music and own TV-tropes page appeared, and got me trapped until today!
Inevitable Mercy – Time for an update of JRS! That’s been a 3-day weekend in Barcelona, and I got time to draw something.
Actually a Good Bunny – Time for an update of JRS! It’s been a hard month, with lots of work to do in science, leaving so much little time to draw. I’m saving some money to buy a screen/tablet (a “cintiq-like” device), to see if I can speed up the creation process.
Bunny Closure – Another update of JRS! This one closes the current story arc, and starts the next one, centered in Roy Firefox. Bad jokes belong to old comics from L’Oasi Magazine by Oscar Torres’94, talking about women in our Faculty (back in the 90′s there was also a lack of them).
Forbidden Fluffies – How’s spring going, aside of allergies and rainy days?! Here I’m doing science while drawing another JRS strip in short format!
Calf Cramp – Another JRS strip in short format! This time “Roy used the Fake Calf Cramp Trick. It’s super-effective!”. Roy escaped successfully.
A Hot Shower – Yet another JRS strip in short format! This one has been properly censored thanks to that vapor cloud that conveniently appears in hot showers when intimate parts should remain hidden to protect the young audience.
Bunny Apologizes – Bad bunny! You don’t harass people! Now go to the thinking corner until you realize what you did wrong!
Introduction to Radio – Hey! I can publish again, now that my hand doesn’t hurt so much (I got injured two weeks ago). Also, now I have a Cintiq “clonic”, and I can draw better even with my hand bandaged, not forcing it in harmful poses 🙂
So, starting a Johnny + Steffy story arc, involving the campus Radio. Someday I’ll explain the history of that radio station, and what happened when we were there.
Presents for Bunnies – I’m back again from the mountains! I prepared this story arc, also thought of more comics to draw. Now it’s time to find time to draw them!
I decided to switch from Photoshop (I was using the free version from 10 years ago) to Clip Studio Paint (p.k.a. Manga Studio), and it doesn’t feel bad! It is a pity that it doesn’t work properly on Linux. Also I switched the “Arial” font to “Comic Neue”.
Best Size Samples – Aaaaaand another update of JRS! A long-size strip to celebrate the Three-thirty-three issue! I’m pondering whether to keep the puppy-girl clerk as a canonical character. In this case she’ll need a name.
Silly Sexy Puppy – Yep! Another update of JRS! It had to be done for last week, but lots of “science work” came suddenly, and the ultimate AI will not build itself alone (at this time)… so I was busy amending an interesting-but-improvable rejected paper, enough to get some time to “ink” this strip.
The Instructions – And another JRS update, where Gem and Roy attempt to prepare Johnny’s night with Steffy.
The Burrow – Ha ha! Another strip! And this is four-toned!!! I added a second shade of gray, just for science!
Gift Interruption – So, another update of JRS comics!
Rabbits Only (Part 1) – And now, let’s give some time to another issue of JRS comics! Steffy’s birthday family dinner can’t go on without the classical family argument.
Rabbits Only (Part 2) – And again, another issue of JRS comics! This time I hurt (again) my hand, trying to lift my motorcycle into the walk-side, to not let it in a no-park zone… and a hundred kilograms are quite a heavy load… and I don’t have the same resilience like ten years ago. So I’m drawing slower… 🙁
Bunny Nights: Presents – Here we are again! This month full of deadlines and courses is almost over, and I had time again this weekend to finish this!
Bunny Nights: Cancel! – Long time ago, the local LGTB student association in Campus Nord used to give condoms for free once a year, as part of their campaign of AIDS prevention and awareness. But being sincere, condoms are not much used there, so everything ended covered by tons of rubber, also the student council office.
Bunny Nights: Self-Service – Soooo…. we’re back, with some spicy issue this time!
I’m thinking in putting all JRS in a separate blog, and then re-blog it from here. Just to keep things organized. And force myself to do something else for this blog…
Kink your bunny NOW! – Here we’re again! With an in cresendo situation, between bunny and kitten. All thanks to Radio Campus and Dr.Amorós.
This week I’ll try to find time to create a separated blog for JRS. Then, I’ll reblog stuff here. Just to keep things in order. Yeah…
Nom, Kitten, Nom – Hi again everybody! I just opened a separated blog for JRS, just to keep some order in the Universe.I’ll be posting this stuff here, but I’ll keep reblogging the issues in my main Tumblr blog. Let’s see if this works better!
In this issue, Johnny decides to make a bunny happy. “Treat her right” they say.
Floppy On – Hi again! Have you had a happy Easter? Here we had official holidays from Thursday to Monday (because, hey! Spain is NOT a religious state, they say…). So I came back today.
So today, more JRS for the people! Because why not!
Must say that ProSO (previously SO-91, or “Operating Systems”) was a cool subject. But not as cool as Steffy in the shower. Sorry ProSO.
Not always the nice cat – I wanted to publish this yesterday, but while I was finishing the work, Windows (I had to go with Win10, because there’s no way Clip Studio paint works on Ubuntu) decided to reboot without any warning, making e to lose all the unsaved work, and taking an hour and a half to update somewhat shit (because it works as bad as always).
So after midnight, when the session resumed, I was so much tired to re-do all the lost work. And today I finished it 🙂
Still Regina Firefox – Hi everyone! There’s another JRS issue here!.
Last Friday we celebrated the FestaFIB (I think I talked about this previously. It’s the Spring Festival at the faculty). Some alumni and former participants met there, most of them married, to be married in no time, or about to give birth. Also the persons who served as inspiration for some post_tag like “Gem ‘Buns’ Rabbit” or “Nami ‘Mama’ Bear” showed up. Plus Fubu, Karibul, Koopa (the radioactive turtle), and other post_tag appearing (or to appear in the near future) from “l’Oasi”, the faculty magazine. We did a BBQ.
Apologies and Excuses – ¡Hi again! How’s everything going? ¡Another week, another strip!
Rebuilding FestaFIB (Part 2) – Hop! Here we are again, with the plot dedicated to FestaFIB.
Rebuilding FestaFIB (Part 3) – And we continue here, with the FestaFIB plot. It is always difficult to find new people for the committee, not belonging to other associations. Also valid people, the kind that doesn’t get drunk while serving drinks.
Call for Gibbs – Hi everybody! How’s been the weekend? Everything OK?!
This strip was going to be the first of the “Bring him to the FIB” arc, where wacky post_tag will appear during the FestaFIB preparations.
Gibbs Arrival – Hi everybody! A Monday update on Tuesday!
Here we are, waiting for summer vacation to arrive!
Gibbs Blasts Off – Hi again! This is an update before going to sleep! Have a good night and a good week!
New Semester – Hi all of you there! Everyone just went on vacation! There’s nobody on The Internets, as everyone is in the beach, taking photos, to upload later into The Instagrams!
…And I still have a week before leaving!
Meanwhile, here’s a new JRS issue
Non-Negotiable Ears – Hi again! I’m on vacation, finally, and I decided to automate the following publications! The Internet in there in the mountains is quite primitive, direct from the nineties!
Have a good vacations! And see you back then!
A Surprise for Tonight – Hi again! Just surviving to this summer heat wave, in a city taken by zombies tourists and street constructions. More JRS issues now!
Leader Duties – Here we are again! Another week, with another strip!
Is the world still existing? We had a very “interesting” week here at home, and I don’t know if the rest of the world is still there. Let’s see if we survive this next week!
The Keys – Hello world! This week has been a non-stop, preparing a project for the EU. Now I could sit for a moment, and draw something!
Let’s see if we reach next week! See you!
Cyclic Probabilities – Hello again! Here we have another issue of JRS! This time with extra maths!
Post-Message – Hi again! How is it going?! Sorry last week I couldn’t update JRS, but I was traveling to London for some visits, and I had no time:( But this week I could, so yeah! 😀
This issue is based on a real situation, on real post_tag, and real subjects, where you are told there’s no lesson today, after there’s no lesson!
Demand for Squirrel – Hop! Last-hour Monday Update! How’s everything going? Good?! We’re getting ready for Christmas here. Also, getting ready next issue of JRS!
Free Pizza Party – Hi everyone! I’m back, after two weeks of exhausting work.
This issue is based on real events, with rel pizzas, and real discounts. We didn’t pay anything for the 30 pizzas, and we still had codes for some weeks. Domino’s BlackJack Pizza learned not to ask for promotion websites to stingy consultancy firms.
The guest tar is “Rino Rodríguez”, one of the artifice of the pizza party.
P.D.: Happy holidays (that festivity/celebration that represents you the most) to everyone!
Get a Room – Hi everybody! How’s new year going? Tomorrow I have to be back at the lab, so officially Christmas Holidays are over.
Going Down – Hop! A last-minute Monday (CET) update!
Today I have not much to tell you (but as always, I never have anything important to tell you, so everything’s fine!)
Bunny Hunt – Hi again! Another week, another strip!
The 3rd basement is the most famous in the Casal (Student House) for intimating. Basically, it is not easy to reach, because there’s a metal door hiding the stairs. Also, basement 2 is more accessible but dirtier, and it’s near the RPG Club and the Robotics Club; it’s easy to get caught.
Bunny Escape – Here we are again! I realized that soon JRS will have 10 years (counting with the original version at HERE), coinciding with the 400th issue. I have to thing something for the occasion.
Pizza Party Consequences – Hop! Late Update! On Tuesday (that’s already Wednesday now), and I still didn’t have dinner!
Drawing full pages, also drawing Steffy in all her bunnyness, requires its time!
Sweet Dreams, Bunny – ¡Monday Late Night Update! It’s past midnight here, so I’m going to bed right now.
In this issue I had to get them somewhat dressed, because they were getting cold, even with their fur.
Cleaning Party – ¡Hi again! Today I’m talking about “El Xollo”, the Civil Engineering’s Faculty magazine, as “l’Oasi” is from Informatics and “Distorsió” from Telecommunications. Few people have seen them, as they appear once a year, they hit the magic button for “make magazine”, and then disappear. Their mascot is a “water drop” (?), that once was drawn on cardboard for promoting the magazine. But nobody takes permanent care of that cardboard figure, and it goes from hand to hand traveling the campus, clubs and associations. Today it sits in the Civil Engineering’s Canteen.
Magazine Brainstorming – Hop! Another issue this week!
In the magazine office it is known that the most “in” teachers at FIB are Glynn Morill and Borja Vallés. They’ve been in the top ten for decades. When I joined the magazine 15 years ago, they already were “in”. They’ll always be “in”.
More Pages! – Hello, hello! Easter update today! A festive day here in Catalonia, as in most of Europe.
It is a usual thing for the Magazine veterans to disappear, leaving the hard work for the new members of l’Oasi. This “helps” the newbies by making them to gather the people from other clubs and associations to finish the new l’Oasi issue.
Designing l’Oasi – Hi again! Everything OK at home?!
A classic from l’Oasi, that design time where articles are put, images are places, and pages are composed; everything without any hint from the “old ones” on how to use Aldus Pagemaker Adobe Pagemaker Indesign.
Another classic is to debate whether or not publishing the magazine digital, or keep it being printed. Each new generation discusses the same, and never is carried on. Meanwhile, each issue has less volumes printed, as nowadays nobody seems to like printed magazines anymore (only the teachers seem to buy that).
Selling l’Oasi – Hi again! Here we are.
When we sold l‘Oasi we set up a table in the middle of the Faculty Plaza, with piles of magazines, while we went down across the campus on top of an Ikea shopping cart shouting that l’Oasi was on sale. We also camped outside the computer rooms, where all the students went between sessions to check on-line their schedules, before we had smartphones.
The Replacements – Hop! Tuesday night update!
Time to start replacing “real” post_tag with “invented“ ones. When I started this, I filled the JRS universe with post_tag based on real people from FIB/UPC/Casal, and made the bad choice of preserving some of their names, linking the character to the real person. That prevented me to put some of them in compromising story arcs, to not offend that real people. I also attempted to “alter history” by modifying published issues, but it was kinda complicated, although some post_tag were already anonymized/unlinked.
People come and go from the faculty and the “Casal de l’Estudiant”. Associations pass from the older generation to the newest when the first ones graduate. And this is the excuse to substitute the “real-named” post_tag. Obviously, the new post_tag will represent clichés and protagonists of real stories, but this time under new secret identities.
Desing Engineering – Hi again! Another week here!
The Software Engineering 2 exams were about designing software for invented scenarios like “software to manage a gym/club/whatever”, using UML patterns. Those exams always had the same formula “We want to keep register of members, with their data… also activities, with their name… each activity has 1 to X editions, each edition 1 to N users, …”. Those problems were not much funny, like Data Structures and Algorithms, where each semester “Johnny, Roy and Steffy” had some problem reducible to some NP-difficult problem, to be solved by the students.
A JRS Comic – 400th issue of JRS! Also, this Friday June the 1st is officially the Tenth Anniversary of “Johnny, Roy and Steffy”. Actually, Ziritrion drew the three post_tag before, and I drew the first strips months before in my personal blog, but the JRS webcomic blog started on June the 1st of 2008.
I have in my To-Do list to put all the comics in a single volume, even digital, for whoever wants to have them all together. I’ll tell you about this soon! Also, Karibul, Fubu, m0d, people from l’Oasi, also Ziritrion (if he doesn’t forget about this) told me that, possibly, they send me something for this anniversary. I’m putting this together, also. And if somebody else wants so send something, you’re welcome to do that!
Now, I’ll be a couple of weeks preparing new story arcs, and update the “character sheets”.
Thanks to everyone who read me during this decade, at any time, and from any place of the world! Let’s keep going 10 more years!
J.L.B., El Pitiflí
P.D.: I hope that, at some point, I will learn to draw
Morning in Campus Nord – Hi again! I’m here again, with a new chapter of JRS “L’Oasi Needs You!”
(‘Morning in Ponyville’ was what I was singing in 2013 around the Campus when I only had to write down my thesis)
New people – Hop! Secret Thursday update! I’m going back to a simpler format, also I currently have less time to do stuff.
New Illustrator – Ta-Da! How’re you doing? Everything fine? Here we do an update on time! Seeking new members for l’Oasi, where many come but few stay.
Those Names – Hi again! This is an update before Monday finishes! Here I introduce the new character, “Chilla” (her real name is actually Leela)
That New Staff – Hi again! I bring you here new post_tag to renew l’Oasi staff. Here’s their respective presentations to the group. (The real “Trizion” actually resembled and acted a lot like Weird Al)
Tapping Gibbs – Hop! How’re you doing? On vacation or something? Here we are, suffering an unusual heat wave.
Tapping Natius – Here we are again, still on vacation, and updating the series. Everything OK there? Let’s keep going!
Grumpy Johnny – I’m back from vacations, with a new issue!
Being on the Student Casal during the studies helps people to discover how weird is people, and get used to different types and magnitudes of personal issues from others
An RPG Game (Part 1) – Hello everybody! This story, as the previous one and the following ones, is based on real events. The stories of the underground people (basements 1 and 2, Illusionism, Anime, RPG, Aerospace clubs, etc…) can easily match the ones of the upper floors associations.
An RPG Game (Part 2) – Hi again, and happy Catalan National Day! Let’s continue with another real story from Casal and Revistes Campus Nord.
Conspiracies (Part 1) – Hi again! Today is the biggest festivities of Barcelona. (yay!)
Bill, from the IEEE student branch, enters in scene. For those who ever come to our Campus, the room with a door on the ceiling is A5S101, two labs from the Operating Systems lab (group 21).
Conspiracies (Part 2) – Hop! Emergency update at Monday late that’s almost Tuesday! More things that happen in an Operating System’s lab!
Also, I checked lab A5S101… and they covered the “ceiling door” with a panel! I’ll have to ask my friend Will (a guy who had a section called “conspiracies from UPC” [what a coincidence…]) if he still has the photo.
One GIT – Hi! Weekly update on time. everything OK?
Long time ago, William H. Sola uploaded to the servers from Revistes C.N. all the solved assignments of the Telecom major. Since then, and until the change of study plans, the students copied those assignments because the teachers didn’t change the exercises. Some students even left the name of Will in the exercises. Those assignments were one of the many things hosted in the server farm we built in the R.C.N. office.
The Fanfic Duo (Part 2) – Hi everyone. Here we are again with another issue.
Sweet Dreams, Regina – Hellooooo again! I’m back here with a new issue of JRS, with extra censorship. Even if nothing could be seen, I’m not the one perverting your minds through illustrations with sexy results.
Fragile Roy – Hi again! We have here another issue.
So… I’ve already stated that JRS is a “mostly SFW” comic, with just a pinch of “rabbit meat”, showing naturally here and there, as we’re not always dressed 24/7. And that’s my intention, to keep this way with JRS.
Also I wanted to start a parallel blog, maybe with more nudity but never hardcore (e.g. poses and pin-ups), preventing “dangerous material” to reach the main channel and keeping your spirit pure and clean.
But, as I just read when logging into Tumblr, they’ll start to enforce rules against not SFW stuff, and at this time I don’t know how to proceed. Maybe some stuff of JRS gets me in trouble, also any other alternative blog become impossible. If I was already thinking twice and trice every post I ever made, this new situation will make it worse.
I’ve seen other people fleeing to Twitter and other platforms (Deviantart, Furaffinity, etc.), so I maybe take the “big journey” too.
I’ll make a decision in the following days for what to do, and I’ll communicate it to all of you, my dear followers, bots and non-bots. At this time, I’ll keep my channels (“pitifli” and “jrscomics”) as usual, and your comments and support will be as always very welcome.
Stay tuned for further communications!
Linden Pub (Part 2) – Hello again! Here I bring another JRS issue, with Bill and the places in the uptown side (just next to the Campus).
Linden Pub (Part 3) – Hello again! Everything OK? Here we are again, with the “Los Tilos” Pub, but this time with Steffy in action.
The Linden Pub (Part 4) – Hop! Here we are again! This time with the story of the “bitchwatching”, where we escaped from Campus to have some “bravas” at Bar Tomás (in Sarrià, uptown Barcelona), and later we spent some time in front of a “famous” brothel from there, to make uncomfortable its clients, while we ate “churros con chocolate” from a nearby “churrería”. I just added the “points” thing to insert some kind of “Bamboozled!” game.
Bravas Tomàs – Hi again! I’m back, with new issues of JRS. Last week I was too busy to finish this one on time.
This issue happens at Bar Tomàs, in the old district of Sarrià. They say they make the best Patatas Bravas of Barcelona, and that’s the place where the king of Spain (the old “casual”, not the new “granny-killer”) went frequently. Actully, ithe place is a tourist trap, and those Bravas are not that good.
Home Bunny – Hello hello! We’re back after “carnaval” week.
I’m just here to say that this JRS issue is NOT fan-service, I just wanted to draw Steffy in that position. For anything else, have a good week!
The Debate for Moskovskaia – Hello hello! This issue is 3 days late, because it took more efforts that I though (even being that simple), and because I’ve been working in the “MisadventureMay” (you can check my Twitter @SenseTomaquet).
The debate happened, but the machines remained in their place. But things didn’t end there.
Initiative Points – Hello hello! I’m back again! Last week I couldn’t draw anything because I’ve moved to a new place, and I had all the tools (PC, tablet, etc…) in boxes for days. But now everything is set up again!
Bloody Disaster – Hi again! I’m updating on Wednesday because schedule issues (again). This time we have an uncomfortable situation going on…
I’ll have to speed up production to have a good buffer for fall, as I’ll be out of town for some time! Let’s see how I do this…
Cotton and Pills – Hello! How are you today? I’m back around here for another week. Last week I couldn’t draw a single line. I had to travel to Madrid for some “ultra-official” paperwork, and that supposed wasting some days for the travel and bureaucracy. But I’m back. And here we are with Johnny and his new life next to Steffy.
Kitty Massage – hop! Another week around, before starting summer holidays, and we’re still with Steffy and Johnny. As when returning from vacation I’ll be traveling around the works (for work), I’ll start to fill the buffer of comics, to maintain the periodicity of this.
Mammal Massage – Another Monday, another JRS issue! And we’re in August, so I’ll be disconnected for some time until September. This means that maybe I can’t update the web-comic since then. Also I want to use this time to create a buffer of strips for autumn. Meanwhile, here’s Steffy (at hands of Johnny).
Mammal Emergency – Hello hello! I’m back from vacation, and here is a new JRS strip. This week I’m trying to advance some stuff because I’ll be working around for the next months without stopping for a second.
Meanwhile, here’s some Steffy and Johnny!
Mammal Demand – Hi everybody! This is an update from the “New World”. As I’m traveling right now, I’m trying to do the next issues using my tablet (Surface), and let’s see if they look good.
Now, I leave you with Steffy and Johnny!
Mammal Issues – Hop! Another comic from the New World. This one was in buffer from before start traveling. The next one is made using the “Surface”, and the process is much slower… (I was going to bring my Wacom with me, but I decided to travel with the minimal luggage).
So, we keep going with Steffy and Johnny!
Bunny Resident – Another Monday, another JRS issue! This is the first one drawn with Surface instead of the Ugee (Cintiq clone), and it didn’t end as bad as I expected.
Let’s keep with Steffy and Johnny stuff!
The End of Moskovskaia (Part 1) – Hello again! Nightly update (American time) of JRS. We’re finishing (literally) the Moskovskaia affair, and how the Age of the Servers really started in Revistes Campus Nord.
* This issue represents a real event, that truly happened.
The End of Moskovskaia (Part 2) – Hello, hello! Finally I have time to draw some stuff. We continue with the death of Moskovskaia and the dawn of the Servers Era at Revistes Campus Nord.
The Cluster (Part 1) – Hello hello! Finally I could finish this week’s (actually last’s) issue. The Surface I brought on tour didn’t let me finish things on time, as it starts flickering after some time working. Luckily I’ll be at home in December, with the good tools to do stuff.
Meanwhile, there’s Steffy and Bill with the Moskovskaia post-mortem.
Diet (Part 1) – Hello again! That last week was overwhelming, as when returning home I discovered all the work of three months waiting for me, and I couldn’t dedicate a single second to draw… Actually, I wanted this issue to be longer, but I finally made it in two parts. here’s the first one!
Diet (Part 2) – “…and that’s called Jazz!”. Hop! Special edition for Christmas season. “Double” issue tonight, following the previous one.
How’s Christmas going? Do you have some holidays and vacation days? I joined all my remaining vacation days of this year (plus days in the labor agreement, plus official days). So they won’t see me much these days in the lab.
Have a happy holiday, and take care with the all the food!
In Technicolor – Hello hello! How’re holidays going? Everything ready for the new year? I hope and wish that you all had a happy holidays and you have a happy new year! 😀
Meanwhile, here’s Johnny and Roy!
The Tickets (Part 1) – Late update, on Tuesday night! This past weekend I was busy with old computer machines (MSX) and I had no time to draw until yesterday evening. I decided to drop “The Color”(TM) for some time, as I think the last strip was kinda weird, and I need to practice more.
Meanwhile, here’s a story about a concert.
The Tickets (Part 2) – Hop! Wednesday night update! With all the mess of this month and week, and that yesterday I started inking over the wrong layer (and I had to start inking again…), that I missed all deadlines!
The “Fake Llimoner” and “Esbart Away” come from my friend Marklar and his theory that you can create a hipster trendy pop group joining a Catalan name and an English name.
The Tickets (Part 3) – Good afternoon! Another week, another strip… if we don’t count two weeks ago, when I couldn’t do anything because of lots of work 🙁 But this last week I could get two vacation days I had, and drew this strip and the next one (YAY!)
Let’s continue with a story of two concerts!
The Tickets (Part 5) – Good night! We’re back with a JRS issue on Monday midnight. Back with the Esbart Away, and the special concert for Johnny and Steffy. I think there isn’t anything else that the strip right now!
The Tickets (Part 7) – Hello hello! Last hour update! I hope you are all well, around the places, and the epidemic didn’t get close to you. Take care, all of you!
Meanwhile, here we are with Steffy and Johnny!
The Tickets (Part 9) – Hop! Another week here with JRS. How’s it going around the world? I hope that despite all this shitstorm you’re all fine and staying safe!
Meanwhile, we’re here with the Esbart Away!
The Tickets (Part 10) – Hop! Monday update on time! I’ve been 19 days without leaving home, no more than for taking the garbage out and buying food at the mini-market down in my block. And there’s still 12 more days of official lock-down (for now…).
Meanwhile, we’re out of the Fake Llimoner and Esbart Away concerts!
The Tickets (Part 12) – We’re in Easter Week, and here in Catalonia today is Easter Monday. This means, holiday at home, as we can’t go out yet. I hope you enjoyed the festivities, whichever you celebrate!
Meanwhile, here’s the last strip of the current storyline!
CopyTrap (Part 3) – Hello, hello! Today I have a Tuesday update, because yesterday I was really tired to upload anything… But here we have the continuation of “Copy Trap”.
By the way, the anime could be named… “Odoru ika no beddo” (… that makes no sense, but given names of weird anime series…)
Weird Anime – Good morning! Update on time, on Monday morning. Is everyone OK, at home or around? Here we’re still locked, working remotely, all day in front of a screen and with the headset on.
Today’s guest subject is “MAC (Abstract Calculus Models)”, basically Computing Theory. By the way, these last strips are dedicated to the day that Ziritrión showed me, in similar circumstances, an anime called “Dokuro-chan”.
CopyTrap (Part 5) – Hello hello! Last week I couldn’t finish the strip on time, as I was with another whereabouts (I could draw some silly things, but I gave myself a rest with the JRS strips). Possibly I advance something that I’m working on, through Twitter.
Meanwhile, here’s Steffy and Johnny, and the CopyCenter girls.
Closing Magazine (Part 1) – Hello! Finally, a Monday update! Last week I couldn’t finish the strip, so here it is today! I leave you with the usual issue-closing day in l’Oasi Magazine.
Closing Magazine (Part 2) – Hi! We’re here again with another JRS issue. We call “To Wayko” what a previous president of the magazine (Wayko) did with images that didn’t fill all the column width, by stretching out the image and breaking the proportions far from acceptable.
Werdley Map – Hello hello! A late night update! Today we have Wardhog maps, as a friend of ours got totally obsessed with them. Good night!
The Query (Part 1) – In 2008 an SQL query was created in Revistes Campus Nord, being it the best in all history. It was immediately declared as “The Best in the West”, granted a seat in the Royal Academy of Spain, also given the Saint George Cross, the medal of Best Car of 2009 and the prize of best sparkly water Barcelona 1898. That Query only had a function, short and clear, as needful an valuable. That function was, as you already deduced, getting panties wet. History will remember that Query, along other important events on that year, being those the “SisTel Rap”, the Pikachu plushy that got Manguerito angry, and the sandwich that somebody forgot in the fridge on that hot summer.
The Query (Part 3) – Hello hello! Monday night update! Is everything OK around there? Here we’re still at home, waiting to see what happens next week.
Meanwhile, here’s Steffy, Johnny, and the best SQL query of all history.
The Query (Part 4) – Hop! This week I’m on vacation in places without Internet, and trying to finish the comic strips the best way I can.
Meanwhile: as the law in JRS dictates, from time to time “Regina” has to make an apparition, so here’s an excuse to draw that red panda girl 😛
Werdley Map (Reprise) – OK, I don’t know if today’s comic is plain weird or simply stupid. If anybody gets the reference, I’ll be worth the effort. I’m on vacation and I wanted to experiment a little bit. I promise that the next week everything will go back to normal (if there’s such a thing as “normal”). Sorry!
Lab Conclusions – Good night! Late update before bed! Lately it’s hard to find a moment to draw anything. Here I leave you with Steffy after the lab session!
Angora Secret – Hop! Last hour update! It’s almost one in the morning and I still didn’t have dinner… here’s another strip with this couple, Johnny and Steffy. I’m going to cook something, and going to bed not. Good night!
Market Dangers – Hello and welcome another week! Here’s another real story about the weird people of the Campus, 10 years ago. The guy that dared to do this to the magazine’s vice-president’s girlfriend was expelled from every association, for being an idiot. Good night!
Celebration Dinner (Part 1) – Hello again! Another week, another strip. This time with the traditional dinner after selling all the magazines with profits!
Celebration Dinner (Part 3) – We’re back here, with a night at the Toreros. That place is a “restaurant for groups”, with cheap food, cheap beer, and a tourist trap and Erasmus students. Every time we sold the magazines we went to that place because they let us to do some fuzz… until we did too much and they kicked us from there. So we didn’t go back, and looked for ther place (e.g. El Puma or the Merendero Campechano). Once older we settled at the Salamanca, where we’re returning after the pandemic.
Celebration Dinner (Part 4) -Tuesday night update! how are things going around the world? Locked at home again? (Here we’re locked in the city, and at home in a few days). Meanwhile, here I leave you some new strip!
Celebration Dinner (Finale) – Friday night update! This is the issue 500, closing this chapter! Now I’ll take some vacation days, to finish some business (a DnD game and additional assets for my MSX game), and then I’ll be back with the next chapter.
Good night everyone!
Breakfast Group – Hello again! This week we have some color! This is a test of how it looks and how much difficult is start coloring the strips.
Hop! I leave you with Steffy and Johnny!
Breakfast News – Hello hello! I’m here again, after three blank weeks… Now that there’s less work, I took the chance to change my drawing laptop (the one I was using stopped charging the battery and receiving power), and now I can continue with this.
I leave you here with Steffy and family!
Councils and Delegations – Hop! We’re here again! Today’s holiday in Catalonia (Saint John), and I took the vacation for finishing this strip. It was waiting for inks and colors for 5 days.
I leave you with the first issue of the Thread #1 of “Night at FestaFIB”.
Exploding Bunnies – Hello hello! I’m back after 1) vacations, 2) many work, and 3) being sick with covid. How are things going? I hope you had a good new year season, and you’ll be already thinking in Easter holidays!
Meanwhile, here’s Johnny and Steffy!
